"Rattle his bones
Over the stones
it's only a pauper
who nobody owns"
A traditional nursery rhyme.
It hit me that there are only few children books with very sad begging but the graveyard book is by far the saddest of them all, yet exciting. It began with Darkness, knife and death. It began with an eighteen months old baby boy escaping his fate from death running to the graveyard while all are dead and one lady Mrs. Owns took an oath to the dead mother of the little boy whom we will by further know his name to be Nobody Owns. Nobody found love, home within the Cemetery -including the freedom of the graveyard- and a guardian named Silas who had both freedom of the graveyard and the living world but he was another worldly creature who connected Bod -Nobody Owns- to the knowledge of the living but never let him be among them for he knew the great secret behind Bod's biological parents death. While Bod grow between the coffins he was a little happy child loved by all inhabitants of the Cemetery; indeed they became his friends and some taught him how to keep himself safe -even the one who thought she hates him aka Miss Lupescu- and perhaps that what made him to believe that he is one of them so when.
Speaking of the rest of Bod's days he used to play and had one and only living friend - Scarlett- who thought him to be a ghost and soon both shall be lost to the Sleer who had just one free that there master will never be back. Bod was lost to ghouls where you can only join them or be eaten so Silas had to save but there were grave danger ahead by of Jake of "the Jake of all trade" who killed his parents used his only friend to get to him but that was there mistake to even think to hurt Bod. Now they all are dead and Bod is old enough to go around our living world.
"The graveyard book is a very Gothic story with yet happiness, mystery, love, friendship and above all home. I have never found more joy than reading a story with most of its characters are dead but has their own world and even wonderful the Danse Macabre (Dance of Death) . It also proved you can be family without sharing the same blood and the end of "Jake of all trade" was not indeed by Bod but with their stupidity which led them all to dead. At the end I have said many spoilers about this story but this is a story for all ages to enjoy and for much more enjoyable pages. A story all must read"
"Dark, vivid and magnificent."
